The ZECO Energy advisor

What will inaction cost you?

Use our tool to understand how much you'll spend on energy over the next 15 years - and what you can save.

What the calculator does
The ZECO Energy Advisor gives you a personalised view of what switching to solar, battery storage, and electric appliances could mean for your household in the long run. In a few simple steps, it factors in your location, your current energy spend, and the gas appliances in your home to estimate how much you could save, with a focus on the long term.

It won't give you a quote. It will give you a number worth having a conversation about.
who it's for
This is for all Australians – especially ones who might not realise just how much they’ll spend on bills in the coming years.

The AER confirmed electricity price increases of up to 9.7% for residential customers in 2025-26, depending on location, and the causes of grid infrastructure, network maintenance, and the renewable transition - mean that trend is unlikely to reverse. On gas, the picture is more serious: as more households electrify and leave the network, the fixed cost of maintaining ageing pipeline infrastructure falls on fewer and fewer remaining customers, a dynamic Australia's energy regulators have already acknowledged is underway and will push gas bills higher regardless of what happens to wholesale prices.

The ZECO Energy advisor if you already have solar and are considering your next step - whether that's adding a battery, switching off gas, or understanding what full electrification would mean for your bills.
why it helps
Energy decisions are long-term decisions. The estimator helps you see the full picture, not just the upfront investment, but the annual savings that compound over time as electricity prices continue to rise. Rather than relying on industry averages that may not reflect your situation, the calculator adjusts for your state's electricity rates, solar conditions, and current energy mix. The result is a more honest starting point for understanding whether now is the right time to act, and where the biggest savings are for your household specifically.
What savings can be estimated

Electricity bill reduction

Electricity bill reduction from solar generation - the portion of your power bill replaced by energy your own panels produce, based on your state's average grid rate and solar conditions..

Battery Storage Savings

Battery storage savings - the additional value captured by storing excess solar for use in the evening, reducing what you buy from the grid at peak rates.

Gas Replacement Savings

The annual cost of running gas hot water, heating, and cooking appliances, which can be eliminated when you switch to electric alternatives. These are modelled against typical household gas spend for each appliance type.
Taken together and with different combinations of where your solar and battery energy could go, the estimator shows your potential combined annual saving and gives you a sense of which changes deliver the most impact for your home. Please note, the figures this tool produces are estimates, not quotes. They're designed to give you an honest, well-reasoned starting point and not a guarantee. Actual savings depend on your household's usage patterns, roof orientation, the specific products installed, your energy retailer's rates and much more When you speak with the ZECO team, we work through your actual situation in detail.
how the calculator works

It's all about you

The estimator uses your state, household size, and current energy bills to calculate what you could reasonably expect to save by switching to solar and moving away from gas.

solar savings
These are based on a system size matched to your household - larger households typically need more generation capacity to make a meaningful dent in their bills. That system is then modelled against the solar conditions in your state, since a The Advisor estimates how much of that solar your household would use directly versus export back to the grid, and values each at the relevant rate for your state. If you include a battery, more of your solar stays in the home rather than being exported, which increases the saving.
Gas & electrification savings
Our ZECO Energy Advisor takes the typical annual cost of running each gas appliance type - hot water, space heating, and cooking - drawn from average Australian household figures. Selecting each one reflects the cost you'd stop paying when that appliance is replaced with an electric alternative. Disconnecting the gas meter entirely also eliminates the daily supply charge, which appears on every gas bill regardless of how much gas you actually use.
