The Federal Government announced a significant policy change shifting towards home batteries for Solar systems on Sunday, further incentivising Australians to reduce their reliance on the grid and start saving with a Solar and battery system should Labor win the Federal Election.
The Federal Government estimates that with a battery, you’ll save up to 90% on a full value electricity bill, meaning you could access:
Solar Victoria are still offering 0% interest loans for eligible battery installations, meaning the rebate and loan combined could mean zero upfront cost. It’s a rare chance for many customers to save between $12,000 and $25,000 over the next 10 years with no initial payments.
We’re operating on a first come, first served, first to save even more basis, so don’t hesitate to book in a no-obligation site visit!
Should you proceed, we’ll also offer you a Rebate Ready Quote. We know that much of the current interest in batteries is rebate conditional, so we’ll help you assess your options prior to the Federal Election and never ask for payment prior to the rebate being locked in.

- Ian Lilley, Director at ZECOThe Federal Government has announced a landmark solar battery rebate, slashing the cost of home batteries by up to 30% as part of a $2.3 billion plan. Under the proposal, customers will receive $370 per kilowatt-hour, with rebates ranging from $1,850 (5kWh) to $18,500 (50kWh). The rebate will be available to homeowners, small and medium businesses, and can be combined with Solar Victoria’s rebates and interest-free loans, significantly reducing out-of-pocket costs. While batteries can be installed from now, they cannot be turned on until July 1, and the rebate is conditional on Labor winning the federal election. Only one rebate can be claimed per battery, and eligible batteries must be VPP-enabled, though they don’t need to be connected. This is not only a big opportunity for battery uptake - it also opens the door for homeowners to fully electrify, get off gas, and watch savings grow exponentially over the years.
