ZECO Energy has successfully completed our first tailored Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) Solar Sharing solution, connecting a six-tenant site in Frankston to the grid with dynamic solar allocation. This innovative approach, powered by our Australian Made technology, Marshall’s energy management system, ensures equitable energy distribution, lower costs, and greater grid independence, setting a new benchmark for sustainable multi-residential living.
Multi-dwelling units have traditionally faced significant barriers to solar adoption due to complexities in energy distribution, metering, and billing. The Frankston site required:
- Grid independence for six units.
- Dynamic solar sharing with metering and billing on a monthly basis.
- A consolidated billing system for streamlined financial management.
- Battery storage integration for energy resilience.
- Fair and equitable power distribution among all tenants.
Leveraging Marshall’s intelligent benefits, ZECO Energy implemented a fully integrated solar sharing solution tailored to the site’s unique requirements.
Key components included:
• Inverter Capacity: 30kVA
• Battery Storage: 5kVA and 6.8 x 3 kWh
• PV Meter & Grid Meter: EM530
• Site Current Rate: 100A per phase
Marshall optimises energy allocation in real-time based on individual tenant consumption patterns. By dynamically adjusting solar generation and storage, it minimises reliance on the grid and maximises cost savings, while also providing tenants with real time usage data on their phone.
Energy Resilience: Frankston tenants now enjoy increased energy security, with battery backup ensuring continued power during grid outages or peak demand periods.
Community Engagement: The shared solar solution encourages tenant collaboration, fostering a collective effort to optimize energy usage and reduce environmental impact.
Sustainability Impact: By cutting reliance on traditional energy sources, this initiative significantly reduces carbon emissions, contributing to a greener future.
Increased Property Value: ZECO’s Solar Sharing system has led to an estimated 20% increase in individual apartment values upon activation, making this a compelling value-add for property owners and developers.
“ZECO navigated complex engineering challenges to deliver a solar solution that added real value for both me and my tenants. Their innovation and problem-solving set them apart.” – Dave, Map Developments
